Incredibly well designed place, incredibly dumb people who ruined it. Needles on the floor? Smell of urine everywhere? You’re in a major road in L.A., you’re telling me if you have to use the bathroom you can’t walk to a nearby store or at least do so outside in a hidden area?

It was the druggies and junkies that ruined it, had that place been occupied by more stable homeless people/families, it wouldn’t have been in such conditions.

All you have to do to realize how destitute this particular site was is to hear some of the initial press releases and statements regarding the dwelling. It sounded beyond unsanitary, and I think it was pretty well cleaned up by the time CNN was reporting it. I do hope that the proper agencies became involved in relocating some of these individuals and families—I’m sure they did considering the publicity this story received.

it almost reminds me of “Dark Days” but instead of living in the subway, it’s under a freeway. I guess that makes the typical distinction between LA/NYC…

Yes your very right!!! guess i’m looking at it like say if they told you or I that we could no longer park on the side of the road! were just going to move a block over or find another parking lot. A new rest area on the side of the hiway…..with all the crap going on in the economy here in Canada and the U.S or all over the world for that matter, you’d think that they would be working towards better soulation for “full time campers” insteat of “talking out the trash”

on another note last night i watched all the winnebago experince videos on youtube last night..they make me laugh cause I’m in a simular living situation. Reminds me to stay creative and stay positive…..It could always be worse…
It would make a great movie….you two have an interesting story

The way I see it, and it sounds like you feel the same way: it’s not the place that is dirty or unhealthy, it’s the people. They choose to (or have no choice and are forced to for various reasons) live that way. Moving them from one place to the next won’t change the “sanitation” they bring with them. It’s bigger issue than just moving them along.

for obvious health reasons i can understand why they are welding er shut but are they making any progress on where these people can go? they already kicked everyone out of that place where every one was camping out
