Recycling Continues

In the past few years, the Hobosoul has been collecting cans and bottles as a way to 1) help the environment, 2) be more hobo-like, 3) raise money to make short films. It still continues.

Save your cans, bottles, jars, whatever. The more I recycle, the more I find out they’ll take. ANYTHING. Glass, plastic, aluminum, you name it. We’ll come collect it if you tell us you’ve got it. To date, we’ve recycled over $500 worth of short film goodness…

I found this one at work…the whole office building was recycling here. Not sure who took it before I did…but we made good money off these guys.

hey brother,

Another thing you may consider, is hitting up some local colleges, dorms, and military barracks. In both college and in the Navy we had 50 gallon drums in the lobbies or quarterdecks for recycling for each type of thing near the drink machines or payphones. There were big screen TVs that were tagged ‘paid for with your recycled cans and bottles’. the thing was, there was no ONE person that was in charge of picking up the bottles and cans. So, if they were full, it was free game. It was really whoever was willing to grab it and rebag the barrels, clean them from time to time. Scrap metal too, alot of times you can find aluminum bats cheap at yard sales or thrift stores/pawn shops and you can ask the recycle facility if they take them by weight or a flat price. It may only be the investment of some barrels and talking to some Dorm RA’s about pickup times. best of luck brother.

Another unrelated thing that we learned from our Vegan hitchhiking friends is that places like Panera Bread throw out HUGE bags of fancy bread every night. About a half an hour after close, they usually put them out for whomever to pickup. Alot of times it is wasted, because no one picks it up. Donut shops do the same, but you generally have to ask them, or they will just throw it away.

They had a special about families living in RVs on the Today Show today. Don’t know if you had a chance to check it out. Later

yeah like what drew ^ said, hit up some high schools, i had the pleasure of missing some class in order to take out some cans and bottles to the bins outside-easily 10 full plastic containers like the ones people put on the street for garbage collection all lined up, probably the same case in LA.just some thoughts…
