Hobo Line

Posted by jeff | Posted in Bringing Back The Hobo | Posted on 02-02-2010

It’s been quite a while since my last post…and for that, I apologize. This one won’t be very long either…but interesting.

Back when I was working on Where the Wild Things Are, Production Coordinator Randy Bol invented the “Hobo Line” as a way to determine how hobo I really was…as you can tell, I didn’t get good marks.

With the addition of the Post Office box that I got at the time, I lost points. As the film dragged on in post, I lost points. The few gains I made on this line were for recycling cans and dumpster diving, among other things that I can’t remember.

This was written on the dry erase board I had staring at me every day in my office. It was a constant reminder that I needed to work harder…or is it work less? Or shower less? Or…grow a longer beard?

I’m sad to say that now, with the addition of power and potential water to my Winnebago…I may be moving further and further away from that hobo line…when you dip below the hobo line, you become a regular citizen. I’m getting married…does that really mean I have to settle down, become a “real person”? Please tell me no.

Jeff, use this quote to more associate yorself with the term hobo: if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, its a duck.
